A good check-up

I had a physical yesterday, along with blood work drawn afterward. It's been two years since my last one, and even longer since I had blood drawn, so I was overdue. I was supposed to get a pap smear, too, but with Aunt Flo showing up Sunday night, I wasn't comfortable with that.

My main goal was to get my Flonase prescription renewed. My breathing has been bad again because I ran out at the beginning of the month, but I didn't want to fight with my ENT when I knew I had this appointment. My doctor was great and didn't even blink about refilling it. Even better, my weight is down (I've lost 15 pounds since starting at the library), and my blood pressure wasn't high (which I worried about because it has a tendency to go all over the place). I just had to wait on my blood work results, which I got this morning.

In all honesty, I expected to find out I'm diabetic. I had gestational diabetes for both pregnancies, and every time I've had my glucose tested, they told me it's borderline. Plus, it runs in my family. With Craig's diagnosis last spring, I've been preparing in the back of my head that it's going to happen.

Well, not yet. My glucose was a teensy bit high, but nothing that needs medication, just a general warning to watch my sweets and starches. In fact, absolutely nothing needs attention except the fact that I'm anemic, which, yeah, I am, I always have been. It runs in the family. I had to take iron supplements when I was pregnant. I'm going to take a retest in six weeks, and in the meantime try to boost iron sources in my diet. Spinach, for the win!
