I adore this show. It's not without its flaws - I think Grace and Frankie are far more interesting and believable than Sol and Robert, and the pacing is sometimes really off - but it makes me laugh at the most unexpected moments, makes me think about issues I normally avoid, and most importantly makes me care. This season added to all of it.
I was skeptical at first, though. I love RuPaul, but honestly, his presence had Grace and Frankie talking in ways that seemed out of character for them. Plus, the whole issue with the house felt like it got resolved way too easily. The show doesn't usually shy away from uncomfortable scenarios. But it picked up after that. I even liked the finale, because it showed exactly why these two women need each other. Brianna is grossly underutilized, and I wish more was done with Coyote, but I'll take what I can get.
I did find the constant allusions to Grace and Frankie being sexual with each other, albeit jokingly, a bit jarring, however. It kept feeling like they were leading up to something, that maybe something *would* happen and the finale would be the shock of it hitting them. I honestly don't remember so much of it from previous seasons. I mean, they even had secondary characters commenting on it. I'm glad it didn't - I want the show to be about the depth of their friendship, not a budding romance - but it would've been better without it in there.
Highlights of the season: Frankie and Robert getting high together; Coyote's half-brother walking down the stairs in a towel and asking for candy; Nick bringing in the doctor for the fake date with Frankie to see if she's okay; the entire pharmacy episode because that line from hell is *totally* my pharmacy; Grace on Adderall...
Damn. I could go on for too long with that list.
