Happiness is realizing your headache is suddenly gone

So what's been going on with me since I left LJ that isn't related to the kids? Not a lot. I'm still writing, though it's been rough going the last six months. Last year was mostly spent dealing with Alicia's senior year of high school and getting college sorted. I get a year off until I have to do the same with Alex. I'm president of our band boosters this year which is keeping me busy, and Craig and I are still going strong.

The past six weeks haven't been fun, though. Right after we dropped Alicia off at college in August, I got a concussion. It's an embarrassing story involving me, a closed gate, and a thick iron bar that's the same height off the ground as my forehead. It happened at the high school before a football game, which made me pretty useless in regards to all the band duties I was supposed to do that night. Though it didn't bruise that badly, I had a huge knot above my left eye that couldn't be touched for days afterward. But it's the headaches I've had since that have been pretty debilitating. It's common, and there's nothing seriously wrong, but man, they have flattened me in ways I've never had to deal with before. It seems like they are finally starting to lighten up, though. My brain doesn't feel like mush all the time, and I actually didn't have to take a painkiller two different days this past week. Go me. :)
