Buffy chess

I couldn't resist sharing another Buffy set today. This is something else that I got when I lived in the UK. Believe it or not, Tesco's sold Buffy chess sets in their toy department one year. I picked mine up for twelve pounds, though they went on clearance for less than ten a couple months later. When I moved to the US in 2004, I found US dealers selling them at conventions for $75, lol.

My set isn't in the original cellophane because I couldn't resist opening it to see what the pieces looked like. I've never taken the pieces out, however, and I've only opened the board once (I didn't take a picture of it, it's a black and purple chess board). The quality of the pieces isn't great. They're lightweight plastic, and the likenesses are pretty funny at how bad they are. But it was sold as a toy for a low-ish price point, so what can you expect? I love it to pieces, even though it's clearly an early season version. There is no way I'm ever parting with it, lol.

Buffy and Angel are the king and queen of the good side.

Willow as the rook, Oz as the knight, Giles as the bishop, Xander as the pawn.

Spike and Dru are the king and queen of the bad side. I'm amused that Dru is in vamp face but Spike is not.

Darla as the rook, Ethan Rayne as the knight, the Master as the bishop, the Judge as the pawn.
