Easter weekend

Home now, and recuperating from being away from a computer since early Saturday. And oh look, I'm in catch-up mode again. :)

Today's going to be nice and relatively relaxing (once I get past the catch-up point, if that even happens). One thing I'll miss about the UK is that Easter Weekend is a 4-day weekend. It's nice having Craig about today. He's taking the kids to the playland in town this afternoon, while I get some packing done.

It was a nice weekend...

We left here Saturday morning and went to Lakeside (the huge mall near Craig's parents'). We had several goals in mind:

Goal #1: Get Alex's hair cut. My little boy has the thickest, most gorgeous hair. Problem is, he hates having it washed, brushed, and won't sit still long enough for a proper hair cut. So, I decided to bite the bullet and have him get a buzz cut until he's a little older and will sit long enough to let it grow out properly. Well, he screamed the entire time (prompting us to tip the girl who clipped it a *huge* tip), and now doesn't look like my little boy. Alicia went around all weekend petting his head, and I'd catch Alex just stopping in the middle of doing something, reach up, and just rub his head. Poor thing.

Goal #2: Buy gorgeous spring dress I saw in In Style this month. Our move to CA will mean we'll be schmoozing more with Craig's bosses so I wanted to buy myself a new dress for nicer occasions. So I saw this gorgeous white spring dress with a sprigged purple pattern on it that Principles was supposed to have and decided to get it, since I haven't bought a dress for myself since my wedding dress. Well, they didn't have it, so I went off in search of a replacement, ending up at Monsoon. Took 4 dresses into the dressing room, and promptly remembered why I *haven't* bought a dress in 5 years. Sigrid's top and bottom are 2 different sizes, so most dresses don't fit properly. Dress buying plan a bust.

Goal #3: Buy replacement candy for the kids' Easter baskets that Craig raided on Thursday. Only thing is, Woolworth's didn't sell the kind we nicked, so we decided to split up the bag we had left between the two kids. Oh well. Candy's not good for them anyway, right?

Goal #4: Buy Country Artists figures for angstchic and eyesthatslay. Problem. Angstchic's had to be ordered and Eyesthatslay's is out of production. So I won't be bringing them with me this week to California, girls, and I need eyesthatslay to pick out another one.

We headed over to his parents' for a lasagna lunch and Easter weekend. Completely relaxing, with Craig's nan, and his brother Ian and his wife coming over for Easter dinner. I really have to learn my lesson when we all get together. I think Harris men are born without any embarrassment gene or something. At some point while we were waiting for the apple turnovers to finish heating for dessert, the conversation switched to body hair removal, at which point Craig, Ian, *and* his dad all removed their shirts to compare chest hair. I don't why I'm surprised. This family has no compunctions about talking about this kind of thing, or talking about sexual stuff either.

I leave for California on Saturday and will be gone for a week. Friday is shot for me because I have to drive the kids to Craig's parents and then get home to pack so that we're ready to leave at 5am when the car arrives to pick us up for the airport. I'll be incommunicado while I'm airborne, but we have a hotel with high-speed internet so I'll be back online that night. My main goal for the trip is to pick an apartment complex to move into, but I plan on doing a lot of writing. This is my therapy, you see. :)

Thanks again to everyone who was so understanding about my panic attack on Friday. After a rather disturbing dream on Friday night, the rest of the weekend passed without another thought to the jerk, so yay there. :)

And now I'm off to try and catch up on e-mail. I may not get caught up on comments, in fact I highly doubt it, but just know that I think you guys are the best. :)
