And the Oscar goes to...

Yesterday was all about the Oscars in our household, though I went healthy on the food this year for the party rather than the cheese/fried food fest of previous years. Fresh veg and fruit, beet hummus (from the new Thug Kitchen cookbook, ohmigod so good and so easy!), baked spring rolls, and cauliflower salad. I did pretty good and won the house pool, though I picked the wrong ensemble to win best picture and Mark Rylance blindsided me. I can't say I was displeased by the bulk of the winners, though. Brie Larson and Room had me bawling halfway through (Jacob Tremblay really was cheated out of a nomination), and Revenant was one of the most intense movie experiences I had this year. So glad Mad Max picked up so many awards, too. I love that movie to pieces.

I wish today had been as healthy, but I couldn't resist the chili cheese dogs we had for dinner, or the bag of Cadbury minis that have been taunting me from the counter. I went to the gym tonight and worked longer than usual, obliterating my daily step goal, but I'm sure it was a drop in the bucket compared to what I ate. At least I moved after the indulging and didn't spend the whole night on the couch. That's a bonus, right?

Plus, I got on my bike yesterday and went for a ride for the first time in 17 years. It was one of my resolutions this year. It seemed silly to own this bike and just have it sitting in the shed. I want to be more active, and we've had beautiful weather, so why not? I'm a little proud of myself for taking that step. My butt, however, is not pleased with this decision.
