Almost back to normal

Tonight is my FIL's last night here. It's a little bittersweet, because I love having him around, but on the other hand, I know he wants to get back to his life and I'm looking forward to getting back to my schedule. That won't be able to start for real until Monday, though. This weekend is DundraCon, a game convention we're all going to. It runs Friday through Monday, but Alex is the only one who's doing anything tomorrow (the kids have a four-day weekend). Craig's going to drop him off and pick up his registration on the way to taking FIL to the airport. All four of us will be attending Saturday and Sunday, though. It's two days of either playing the games they've got running, looking for open games to play (where people bring games from home and a lot of gamemakers bring games that haven't been released yet for con goers to beta test), shopping in the dealer room, or attending panels. But mostly playing games. :)

I gave up on a critically acclaimed/popular fantasy book today. I couldn't even make it through the second chapter. I hated the author's style, which made the reading tedious, and life is too short to waste on tedious books. I'm so disappointed, though. I know a lot of people who loved it, and I liked the author when I met her at a convention a few years ago. I kept wondering what I was missing, why I was in the minority, but I made sure I didn't guilt myself into plowing through a book that I didn't think I'd enjoy even a little.

  • Sleepytimes

Apparently, I'm still trying to catch up from our weekend away. I slept for four hours this afternoon after getting nine hours last night, and I see…

  • New chapter begins

We got back yesterday from a four-day weekend in SoCal. It's the first time we've visited our friends after they moved, and it was just a real treat.…
