I'll take two Novembers, please

The first of our holiday preparations happened today. We got the carpets cleaned. It's such a hassle to get it done since it's impossible to move all the furniture out of the way and it inevitably makes cooking a nightmare because all the small pieces end up in the kitchen. Plus, they counted our stairs as the equivalent of four rooms! We could see two--we have two half-staircases, one from the kitchen and one from the front room, that meet at a landing and then turn into one that goes up to the second floor--but four?!? Craig's writing an email to complain about it. It added an extra $50 we weren't expecting.

It's a reminder of how fast this month is going to go, too. Craig is gone for two days this week to LA, two days next week to Seattle, four days the following week to stay on the peninsula closer to the office because he has people coming in, and then it's Thanksgiving week. In the meantime, Alicia has eight more sessions of physical therapy in hopes that it helps her shoulder, she still has two major marching band events, and we've got all the usual piano and guitar lessons in between all the school stuff. I'm going to have to be extra vigilant in how I budget my time. I still have two guest rooms to empty and clear out before Craig's dad gets here in three weeks, and work starts next week for all the Christmas giveaways. Oh, and did I mention Alicia is part of one of her best friends' quinceanera in December? They've had two practices a week learning the dances for the past two months. I imagine that's only going to get more hectic as the date approaches.
