At the beginning of the school year, Alicia asked us about the possibility about taking some classes at the community college nearby. In order to get to all the advanced math and science she wants by the time she graduates high school, she needs to cram more in now. The easiest way for her to do that without sacrificing the extra classes she already has - the two band classes and engineering - was to take them outside of school.
Once she got her counselor and teacher approval, she went and took the test to see if she had the basic skills necessary for the advanced algebra class she wants. She passed with flying colors and will start next Tuesday.
So my freshman daughter is enrolled at college. Proud mama here, but damn, she is growing up fast.
