Craig's company gave all the employees the Fitbit Flex for Christmas. Craig didn't want it, so he gave it to me. I've been using it since December 19. I had the most basic version at the start of the year, but it got lost at some point and I never bothered replacing it. This is a step up, the wristband that also monitors your sleep. The first ten days, I discovered that I'd been right - that I was waking up quite a bit (anywhere between 6 and 11 times a night). Then, it changed. All of a sudden, I was sleeping more soundly, only waking up 3 or 4 times.
I realized today that it shifted right after we started going to the gym. Exercising is totally helping me sleep, which in turn makes it easier to go again the following night because I'm not exhausted.
It seems so stupid to just realize that, but I hadn't ever looked for a correlation before. The last time I was going to the gym for this much cardio and weight training, I didn't have the sleeping issues I've developed in the past few years as my arthritis got worse.
A silly revelation, but damn if it doesn't motivate me to keep at it.
