Craig was the one who really wanted to watch Ascension, so I went into it with zero expectations. I got intrigued by the end of the first episode, certainly enough to park myself to watch the rest of it. It was The Truman Show in so-called space, which was fun. Once the supernatural elements started coming into greater play, though, it got less fun. It wasn't well explained at all, and frankly, the ending of the whole thing kind of pissed me off. I am not a fan of cliffhangers that aren't guaranteed to be resolved, and there's no telling if this will get picked up again to explain what the hell happened or if psychically transporting people across galaxies was the point all along.
And then there's Gracepoint. I didn't watch Broadchurch, but we recorded this because of Alicia's love for David Tennant. The slow pace and boring characters really killed it for me, but we were too invested not to find out who did it. And then their grand twist wasn't a twist at all, because I guessed that's what they were going to do very early on. Seriously. They made that kid too obvious. And another cliffhanger. What is Tennant going to do? Go after the kid? It's annoying. I read they did it in case it got picked up, but still. Annoying.
I'm currently fighting a cold, so fingers crossed it doesn't take root. Right now, I'm just all congested and dripping out of every hole in my head. I feel completely useless and unenergized. Frankly, I'm just glad I was able to get my yuletide story in on time.
