Life is good

My dress for the vow renewal arrived yesterday, and it fits better than I expected. Believe it or not, I don't need to get it shortened. It skims the top of my toes, which almost never happens. It's a smidge too big in the bust, however, so it will need to be taken in there, but that's a lot easier to do without losing the pretty designs on the fabric. I'm just thrilled with it.

My other bit of news? I stepped outside my comfort zone yesterday and emailed the teacher at the high school who does all the drama and speech stuff, asking if he needed any parent volunteers. He wrote back with a very enthusiastic yes. Like most teachers in creative fields, he's a one man show most of the time, so anything I can do will be greatly appreciated. To say I'm excited is an understatement. I've been dying to get involved in theater again, and it makes no never mind to me that it's high school. The teacher was the school's teacher of the year last year, and Alicia exploded with excitement when she heard who it was. "He's the best!" she gushed. "Everybody loves him."

She and her BFF are going to his class today to pick up the audition packets for the first show, something they'd planned even before I surprised her yesterday with my news about volunteering. I love that she's as excited as I am. :)
