Discovering Tabletop

Yesterday, after following a link that recommended one of Wil Wheaton's latest blogs, I got reminded of his Tabletop show on Geek & Sundry. For those who don't know, it's his show where he and three other people play a game to introduce it to people. The game I got the kids for Christmas that we all love so much - Smash Up - was one of the games he played so I mentioned it to Alex.

Alex has now discovered Tabletop and has more ideas about what the people of his tribe probably are like, lol.

I think he's definitely one of those kids that will find his niche amongst people when he gets older and gets to meet more of them. Not many kids around here play the sort of games he does because come on, let's face it, he's a geek at heart. This is a whole family of geeks at heart even if we cultivate interests in other things.

He watched six episodes last night, including one about a game he's had that I've had no interest in playing. It's called Munchkin, and Felicia Day, Sandeep Parikh, and Steve Jackson (the game's creator) all played with Wil. I have officially changed my mind. It looks like great fun. I told Alex we're playing very soon, lol.

My favorite comment from Alex during those eps? After watching several of Felicia's little side commentaries during Munchkin, he said that she reminds him a lot of me, that we act very similarly.

I'll take being compared to Felicia Day as a compliment any day of the week. :)
