And the cat came back

Alicia has decided not to try for travel ball. That means this is likely to be her last year playing, but she's decided the sacrifice isn't worth it in her case. I'm just glad she's reached a decision, at least for now.

We had a bit of a scare last night. We were out in the pool after dinner, and when we all came back in around 8, somebody didn't close the patio door, something nobody realized for almost an hour. In that time, one of our cats got out. Bruiser is a cat we rescued from friends four years ago when they lost their house and couldn't keep him anymore, and he got to go outside while he was with them. Until last night, he'd never been out here, just because I don't think it's safe for cats when you don't live in a rural sitting. There is too much traffic around us for me to be comfortable with it. We searched outside for him but it was dark already and you can't go poking around in the neighbors' yards with a flashlight on a Saturday night. So we put out food and hoped for the best.

An hour later, as we were all watching Oblivion (not bad, though the heavy-duty margarita Craig made me put me to sleep for the last 45 minutes of the movie), Bruiser showed up at the patio door. So all is well with the world again.

In the fic world, I tied for 2nd this week over at summerpornathon with my Percival/Merlin prison AU. I'm quite pleased about that one. The idea is screaming for a long version, something chapters long, but that will have to wait until I'm not so crazed about deadlines. I've been posting three chapters a day of Legions over at AO3, rereading it as I do since I have to clean out bad code from it at the same time, and missing the days when I could tackle something so long and plotty. That one really is twisty, isn't it? Ah, the glory days when I had so much more time on my hands, lol.
