I'm currently seething about a new rule at Alex's school.

Apparently, the principal has banned any kind of activity on the playground that has been made-up by a child as well as all games that involve chasing. Meaning, no making up games of any sort, no kind of tag, etc. Basically anything that involves using a brain cell or an ounce of imagination. She believes children will get hurt by the chasing (though how that's different from playing soccer during recess, I have no idea), and that eliminating any kind of play that doesn't have pre-set rules or methods of use (like sports, tetherball, playground equipment) will cut down on fights.

Please tell me I'm not the only one who thinks this is utterly insane.
