I woke up this morning with a headache. Not much new, so I didn't think too much of it. My eyes were messed up and blurry, but I'm not a morning person and figured it was just about waking up. Except it didn't get better. Neither did the headache. I laid down after taking a shower, and promptly slept for nearly 2.5 hours. Still, my headache and eyesight wasn't better.
So I called Craig. It was noon, and it takes him 90 minutes to get home from work, and with less than 2 hours before the kids had to get picked up and me not trusting myself to drive, I needed to make sure they were covered. We talked a little bit, and he convinced me to check my blood pressure. Which ended up being elevated. I let him know, he tried calling the doctor and found out they were closed, so he called the 24/7 nurse line.
Who promptly told him to tell me to call 911, since he was still an hour away. I didn't want to, but I eventually caved. My head was killing me and frankly, the blurred vision scared me a little. Five EMTs and firemen descended on my home, and ten minutes later, I was in an ambulance and on my way.
Everybody was really nice, but it was way busy, and I ended up on a bed in the hallway. I got an IV with drugs, and a CAT scan that ended up coming clear, and got diagnosed with migraines. He gave me a prescription for the drug they gave me (which did help, though it didn't get rid of it completely), and I was home 5 hours later.
I'm not painfree, but at least I have a solution the next time it happens. Stupid headaches. And wasted my whole day.
But drugs good.
