And because I love my new day-by-day calendar, I'm going to start including snippets that I get from it to share with anyone who cares to read.
Thought for the day
"Art is a form of catharsis." - Dorothy Parker
This is me and my storytelling. I've been telling stories for as long as I can remember; I actually have the stories I wrote in kindergarten pinned in my scrapbook (and how revealing is it to read them 30 years later and wonder at the five-year-old who wrote about bunnies whose father moved them from place to place with grand promises that never came true, and kitties that ran away from home and promptly got lost; I think a shrink would have a field day with these ;0 ).
My stories provide me with the release valve I need for the stresses that build and build inside. Fanfic has been a godsend. I never even knew it existed two years ago, and yet it has given me a discipline in my writing that I never had, even at my most prolific during college. I need to be able to sweep people along with the tide of my tales, and while I prefer the more immediate rush of performing to the more secondhand nature of writing (although, when the feedback comes in, watch out because that's its own kind of specialness), this is a more than adequate substitute in the chaos of my world.
And speaking of my writing, did this little quiz...
You are a narrative writer. Usually a writer of
stories rather than poetry, you grew up reading
Shakespeare's less popular and heard of plays--
like King Lear or the Henry series. Your
writing contains a certain order and
organization--be it chronological or otherwise.
If you are to write poetry, it has to convey a
logical (or perhaps unreal) story with some
sort of order behind it.

For only having 3 questions, I was kind of freaked at what kind of response I would get, but I think this sums me up to a tee.
You know what else is giving me pleasure today? First time usage of my new toothbrush. Call me weird, but there's something about the feel of a new toothbrush in my mouth that gives me a happy. :)
