Odds and sods

So Alicia turned 10 today. Double digits. It's so hard to believe that it's been ten years since she was born. Which I know is what every parent says, but man, I never really expected to feel it quite so strongly. I just know it's going to be worse when Alex turns 10. This has got to be why women keep having babies when they've already got enough kids, lol.

I thought Ellen did a really good job last night, actually. She's funny without being overly glib, and even when she was blunt with him, she has such a way about her that it's hard to think of it as mean. I think she's going to be an excellent addition to the show.

Of the contestants...we're getting more of a glimpse of them finally. I'm glad that Skibowski guy is gone, but sad that the pretty boy with the gorgeous eyes is, too. Of the performances we saw, the one that gave me goosebumps, and the only one that I really remembered the next day, was Andrew Garcia, the guy who did Paula's "Straight Up" on his guitar. He better hit top 12. I liked the dread-locked single mom who sang in the last group, too, though she didn't raise the same kind of reaction from me.

Tonight's group performances will be fun. Those always provide some laughs, lol.
