It's not just the writing world. It's everywhere. I've just always been lucky enough to be able to ignore most of it most of the time.
I certainly have my own opinions. And yes, I often feel that people who don't agree are idiots. But I try my hardest not to get into debates because I fully recognize I am not going to change most people's minds. It's a waste of energy to try. And if I'm not trying to change their mind, then what possible purpose could I have in instigating the debate in the first place? Some people argue for the sake of arguing, which is fine. I'm not one of them. And I tend to lose my patience with those kind of people very quickly.
Of course, just posting about this is mildly ironic, though I have no desire to debate the issue with anyone. I'm just venting, because I've read yet another blog about yet another topic where the writer makes a unilateral complaint regarding a genre and thinks they're completely right and any dissenting voice is an idiot.
Which makes me consider that person an idiot. Ha. Perhaps that's not ironic, but hypocritical instead. I don't know. I'm too tired and annoyed to figure it out right now.
