Earshot

Favorite Lines
Willow: (in her thoughts) Buffy did the reading? Buffy understood the reading?

Oz: (in his thoughts) I am my thoughts. If they exist in her, Buffy contains everything that is me and she becomes me. I cease to exist. Hmm...

Wesley: (in his thoughts) Look at Cordelia. No! Don't look at Cordelia! She's a student! Oh I am a bad man. I'm a bad, bad man!

OZ: Dingoes Ate My Baby play their instruments as if they have plump polish sausages taped to their fingers.
FREDDY: Sorry, man.
OZ: No, it's fair.

Favorite Moment
Buffy discovering Giles and Joyce had sex.

Revelations as I watch
1. Buffy's brain works in scary ways if she's wondering where else the mouthless demons have their teeth.
2. Wesley hanging around the high school during the middle of the day, wandering the halls with the students around, really bugs me. Someone give that man a job, stat!
3. When Buffy walks in on Angel, he's so obviously in need of some blood or caffeine or something because the vampire is clearly tired from being woken up.
4. The curtains in Angel's place are the same fabric as that awful purple shirt he wears so much. Methinks someone pulled a Scarlett O'Hara.
5. It's wonderful that Cordelia says exactly what she is thinking.
6. Why is Jonathan so sweaty in the clocktower?
7. Ha! I love that for once Xander is right.
8. Ohmigod! The stunt double for the lunch lady is not only a *man* but half her size! Somebody slacked on the casting.
9. Giles walking into a tree? Always funny.

Choices

Favorite Line
Willow: And suddenly I'm thinking sucking isn't a good word to use around vampires. Hey! Did you get permission to eat the hostage? I don't think so.

Favorite Moment
Oz sending the pedestal crashing so they have no option but to trade for Willow.

Revelations as I watch
1. I totally got distracted from the whole first 10 minutes of this episode. The fact that I can't seem to pay attention to it is not good.
2. I've written way too much Faith. It hurts to see her being all evil.
3. Why doesn't anybody freak out about how excited Willow is to do some really black magic?
4. What is the deal with the complicated pulley contraption to lower Buffy in to get the box? She's a very good jumper. So is Angel for that matter. One of them couldn't have jumped down, tossed the box up to the other, then jumped back up to grab the edge of the skylight and flip out of the room?
5. Though Wesley is technically right, making the not-quite-the-smartest-choice is typical Buffy. In the end, she has a tendency to save those she loves rather than the big picture, which is what we love about her.
6. Look! The Mayor is setting up for Angel's departure!
7. I wondered why Snyder had the odd little scene at the beginning of the episode where he demanded to see what was in that random guy's lunch. But I'd forgotten that they wanted to set precedent for him being so nosy in the climactic action scene.

The Prom

Favorite Line
Jonathan: This is actually a new category. First time ever. I guess there were a lot of write-in ballots, and, um, the prom committee asked me to read this. We're not good friends. Most of us never found the time to get to know you, but that doesn't mean we haven't noticed you. We don't talk about it much, but it's no secret that Sunnydale High isn't really like other high schools. A lot of weird stuff happens here. But, whenever there was a problem or something creepy happened, you seemed to show up and stop it. Most of the people here have been saved by you, or helped by you at one time or another. We're proud to say that the Class of '99 has the lowest mortality rate of any graduating class in Sunnydale history. And we know at least part of that is because of you. So the senior class, offers its thanks, and gives you, uh, this. It's from all of us, and it has written here, "Buffy Summers, Class Protector."

Favorite Moment
The whole umbrella scene. It makes me cry.

Revelations as I watch
1. Gee. Angel's watching Buffy sleep again. What not a surprise.
2. Joyce's talk to Angel is one of the few times I really like her. I think she's right on the money, and maybe interfering with Buffy's life isn't the best decision, but it really had to be done.
3. I'm sorry. The first sight of Buffy and Angel in wedding attire made me throw up in my mouth a little.
4. Why did Angel grab his heart after his dream? It's not like it's pounding.
5. OK, so the big dramatic break-up scene between Buffy and Angel? How are we supposed to take it seriously? First of all, they have been doing this *all season*. And it never sticks. I have zero belief that he's going to stick to this decision. Secondly, that scene is *just* as melodramatic and over the top as the scenes in The Zeppo, when they were *supposed* to be like that.
6. Tucker Wells? You mean Andrew's brother? Hee. Sorry. Couldn't resist.
7. Jonathan has a date to the prom! And she's about a foot taller than she is!
8. Does *anybody* think these hellhounds actually look like dogs?!?
9. I will say this. Angel looks *really* hot in his tux.

Graduation Day, Part 1

Favorite Lines
Willow: What are you doing?
Oz: Panicking.

Favorite Moment
The fight scene between Buffy and Faith. 'Tis a thing of beauty.

Revelations as I watch
1. Though she goes for the mean/evil very quickly, I take hope in the fact that Faith's first instinct is to tell the professor to turn and face the wall. That she can't look into his eye when she kills him. And okay, yeah, I'm probably reaching.
2. The only thing missing from Willow's bike are tassels from the handlebars.
3. The Mayor totally creeps me out in his approach in the library. Especially his "I'm going to eat her."
4. Oz makes me smile so much. I love his cutting Willow off with kisses.
5. You know, Angel only got interesting and fun when it was obvious he was leaving town and getting his own series.
6. Angel called Buffy a brat?!? I had totally forgotten about that.
7. Huh. Vampires are definitely more than capable of sweating. And sweating a lot.

Graduation Day, Part 2

Favorite Lines
Willow: He's delirious. He thought I was Buffy.
Oz: You too?

Buffy: I haven't processed everything yet. My brain isn't really functioning on the higher levels. It's pretty much: fire bad; tree pretty.

Favorite Moment
The stand-off when all the students tear off their robes to face the Mayor.

Revelations as I watch
1. One of the things I love about the Mayor is how genuinely he seems to feel. His need to believe that Faith is all right at the top of the episode tears me up, even though I know he's evil, even though Faith has done some pretty shitty things. But that's what makes him so effective as a bad guy. It roots his motivations in purely human emotions, which is always any villain's greatest strength.
2. I have images of Angel hallucinating Oz is Buffy, and pulling him down for a kiss, and Oz just kind of going with it, because, well, he's Oz. For some reason, that image makes me happy.
3. Gee, Buffy hits Angel to get them to do what she wants? I need a scorecard here.
4. "She's clean." But Angel's high on Slayer blood...
5. Faith's hair looks so awful like this.
6. Hee. Wesley and Cordelia saving the books.
7. I love the big dramatic build-up between Wes and Cordy, and then that awkward, ridiculous kiss. Wonderful.
8. That is a really fast eclipse.
9. Somebody in the first wave has a mace. What the hell is that going to do? That's not a distance weapon.
10. And there goes Wes...
11. For having orders not to eat, it's surprising someone actually took the time to turn Harmony. And it's a woman. For some reason, that amuses me.
