American Idol finale

David C. #1 – I loved this. Amazing control, great power.

David A. #1 – More of the same we’ve seen from him all season, to be honest. A little more energetic, but the vocals didn’t seem as controlled as Cook’s.

David C. #2 – There’s always problems with the contest songs because they always seem to pick the most treacly. David blew it out, but the song was really lacking.

David A. #2 – Oh, look, treacle song #2. But in this case, he knows how to sell it. I’m split at this point, each David has a round for me.

David C. #3 – Why would he do a song he’s never done before? It was fairly underwhelming, though I think I know why he chose it. He showed far more range tonight than David A. did.

David A. #3 – He did choose his truly best performance song of the entire year. I understand why David C. went the route he did, but I think it cost him the competition.

I really think David A. is going to win, though I think David C. is the more talented and versatile of the two. But David A. sang tonight as a strategist. David C. sang as a musician who loves what he does. Musicians have careers, but strategy will win.
