I'm feeling a tad overwhelmed lately. Too much stuff to do and not enough time to do it. I don't think it's even that it's that much more than I usually do. I think it's because of all the overscheduling that happens with my life when Craig's parents are visiting. The nice part is that I pretty much can ignore a good part of the housework because they do it before I can get to it, so that's definitely a plus. But I'm losing huge chunks of time to get other stuff done, too.
Like this weekend.
We leave tomorrow afternoon at 2 to go into SF with Craig's parents for dinner and a show that we got them for Christmas. We're spending the night in the city and won't return until mid-morning on Saturday. Then on Sunday, Craig's invited our best friends over for a proper English Sunday roast, and they're going to spend the night to celebrate the New Year. He wants me to make this red cabbage recipe I got from our neighbor, but what he fails to realize is that Gisela (the neighbor) a) doesn't have the recipe written down so gave it to me as she remembered it, and b) hasn't measured anything in it in 30 years (that's how long she's been making it). So she guesstimated on everything. Which means I have to guesstimate on everything. And I have very little time in the interim to practice making it. *sigh*
Then next Thursday and Friday, Craig, the kids, his parents, and the same friends who are coming over on New Year's are heading north for some snow fun. I've been getting nagged about going with them for a month now but I'm trying to hold firm. I don't do snow. I HATE snow. I HATE being cold. So I would just be stuck inside anyway, and if I'm going to be inside, I might as well be home. I have a feeling I'm going to lose this battle, though.
Then, on the 10th, Craig and I leave for 8 days in Vegas. It's our Christmas gift to ourselves. I'm *hugely* looking forward to that, but again, that's 8 days where I don't get a lot accomplished, most likely. When we get back from that, I have to start organizing Alicia's birthday party.
So, this is what I've got on my non-wife/mother plate -
--- A Soul to Seduce
--- Mercy of These Bones, my vampire 3some novel that's now 31k into the story
--- Two shorter works that pepperlandgirl4 and I need to finish before January 31 if we want to try and get some stuff out on our shared pseudonym before our novel releases in August and the fall
--- LLGA R18 and End of Year Awards
--- My *new* awards site that I want to launch in January
--- Editing on Price of a Tattooed Soul at Liquid Silver
--- The novella for an anthology all centered around Grand Central Station due in the spring
I guess that means I should get back to some writing before I have to take Mary out to the stores to buy something nice to wear tomorrow night, huh? :)
