I haven't touched Delilah since last Thursday. I took her out to tune her and just warm my fingers up for about 15 minutes before leaving for my lesson today, but I was fully prepared to show up, give Scott my best apologetic smile, and tell him he could have the half hour off because I hadn't had much of a chance to practice strumming patterns. Or deluge him with questions in order to kill time, lol.
My lesson didn't exactly turn out like that. After hearing me repeat what he asked for (a strum pattern using 2 chords, no big), he said I was doing great and gave me another 2 chords - B7 and F - as well as going over the 3 minor chords that he only cursorily showed me last week. Then he started giving me a preview of barre chords, and said that next week, he's going to give me all the open chord family groups. Then to top it off, he gave me "Yesterday" to learn for next week. He seems fairly confident that I can do it, which is nice. Before being gone this past weekend, I've been doing my damnedest to practice for at least 45 minutes to an hour every day. Maybe it actually shows, lol.
I got some of my questions answered that had come up from watching Steve play on Saturday night, too. It brought up the issue of fingerpicking, which he said usually comes a lot later in his lessons but he said we'd probably get to much sooner than normal. Both because I'm doing pretty good and my primary interest right now is acoustic playing. So another vote of confidence. I don't suck. Yay! And I get to practice with actual music this week. Double yay!
