Well, it's 10:30 here in San Antonio and the awards banquet is now over. It was an amazing dinner, and the awards ceremony was entertaining as hell. Chains of Jericho didn't win, but with my category so big (8 finalists) and finding out this afternoon that in order to become a finalist in the first place you had to get at least a 9 out of 10 from the preliminary judges, I'm not fussed at all. In fact, I'm even more chuffed in making the finalist list in the first place. I got a gorgeous certificate that's going to get framed when I get home, and Linden Bay was absolutely wonderful and surprised me with a bottle of champagne back in my room after the ceremony. sadbhyl has been a godsend. She has been my rock this entire weekend, pushing me when I want to blend into the wall, patting me on the back when the nerves got the better of me and I was shaking like a leaf, putting up with my snark when I overcompensate for my nerves. i would have been lost this weekend without her.
To sum up, it's just been an amazing, fantastic day.
