American Idol

Yes, I watch American Idol. I got quite upset on Tuesday night when my tivo - for whatever reason - decided not to record the final few minutes when they were in the final room and I spent a half hour trying to find out. Silly, I know. But now we're entering into the actual competition part of the show. This is where it stops being about laughing at the ridiculous people who think they can sing (mostly) and getting to know the competitors.

Ayla Brown: Can sing but she's boring.
Becky O'Donoghue: She's there because she's gorgeous. OK, she can sing a little, but she's mostly there because she's eye candy.
Brenna Gethers: HATE her. HATE her. She better get voted off in these semi's because have I mentioned? HATE her. Bitch with a capital B-I-T-C-H.
Heather Cox: Another pretty girl with an OK voice. I'm refraining judgment only because I haven't seen enough of her yet.
Katharine McPhee: I actually really like her. Her mom the vocal coach annoyed me, but I like the girl. She seems to accept the fact that yes, she does have a stage mom, and yes, her mom probably is living her own dreams through her daughter. I like that. Plus, she can sing.
Kellie Pickler: I like Kellie. I think she's adorable. She oversings, but maybe this will give her some training that will tone that down.
Kinnik Sky: I don't even remember her. That can't be good.
Lisa Tucker: Great voice for being 16. I think she's going to go far.
Mandisa: Loved what she said to Simon. She's a powerhouse with class. I like her.
Melissa McGhee: Another one I don't remember.
Paris Bennett: I think she's probably more suited to blues and jazz. It'll be interesting to see how far she goes trying to do other styles.
Stevie Scott: And yet another one I don't remember.

Ace Young: *sigh* I love Ace. He's my shallow pick of the season. I just think he's charming as hell, and so damn gorgeous. I think he can sing, too, right?
Bobby Bennett: I don't remember him from the prelims or in Hollywood, but I liked what I saw on the final cut show. It'll be interesting to see what he does.
Bucky Covington: Another one I don't remember from the earlier episodes, but again, I liked what I saw last night.
Chris Daughtry: My rocker boy choice of the season. Bo was my boy last year, but I didn't even know who he was until the semi's. I like Chris. He has a great voice and he seems like just a genuinely nice guy.
David Radford: A cute kid, but probably my least favorite of the Rat Pack that got through.
Elliott Yamin: All I know about this guy is that he pissed off one of those Brittenum twins by slacking on the group performance. That gives him points in my book. :)
Gedeon McKinney: Nope. Don't remember him from earlier and was unimpressed last night.
Sway Penala: I don't know why he's there. I've always thought he was fairly average, and frankly, he annoys me. I hope he's voted off early.
Kevin Covais: It's a good thing the boy can sing, because he looks 12 years old. He'll get the geriatric vote.
Patrick Hall: I like him. Strong voice, interesting look. Don't know how far that will get him, but we'll see.
Taylor Hicks: Ah, Taylor. I love Taylor. I love that he's different. And I think he's charming as all hell. It dawned on me last night that he's another Alabama boy. I wonder if I have a soft spot for the accent?
Will Makar: Now *this* kid is my pick of the Rat Pack. I think his voice is the one most likely to break away from the golden oldies, and it certainly doesn't hurt that he's got this whole Fred Savage vibe to him. And yes, I realize I'm perving on a 16 y/o. Shuddup. ;)

So, favorites at this stage? Lisa and Mandisa for the girls, and Taylor, Will, Chris, and Ace for the boys. We'll see how long those favorites last. :)
