The birthday party is over and we've somehow managed to survive. 18 kids showed up, and on the most part, were very well-behaved. There were 3 boys who were a handful and kept us going, but now I have it confirmed which boys are my favorites. And there's at least one mother I have to talk to Monday to tell her just what a wonderful job she's doing with her son. When his father showed up, this little boy promptly ran back to the corner where he'd dumped a box full of legos out on the flower to play with and picked them all up *without being prompted to*. On top of it, this little boy is already devastatingly good-looking. By the time he's an adult, he's going to be gorgeous *and* well-trained. I'm already encouraging Alicia's friendship with him, lol.
There were a couple hiccups. Our dragon pinata refused to break. The hook that it was hung by broke first, and we had to resort to sitting it on the deck and having the kids take turns beating the hell out of it. Even then, it took another 10 minutes to get the damn thing to break. I also way overdid it on pizza. I expected more adults to stick around, but 90% of them just dropped the kid and ran. As a result, I have 7 large pizzas left over now. And 2/3's of the castle cake (that turned out pretty good, actually). Craig's taking the cake to the office on Monday.
I crashed about an hour after everyone had left and took a little nap. Craig and I have agreed that we're going to bed early tonight. We're both exhausted.
But, I'm officially past the party now so I'm back on LJ. Plus, Craig's Miami trip was cancelled so he's not disappearing on me tomorrow. Life in the Harris house is resuming normal, whatever that is. :)
