Saturday, I woke up feeling awful, having caught something at the Christmas party on Friday night (or finally had the full force of all the sickness in the house manifest itself). By Sunday afternoon, it was full-blown---completely blocked sinuses that wrecked my ears and balance, congestion, sore throat, the works. So I did what I've always done. I dosed myself up on Nyquil at night and Dayquil by day in order to try and ride it out. My whining about nothing working hit a peak tonight and Craig said maybe I should try something else, so we happened to get online to check out the ingredients of the British drug he swears by in order to find an American equivalent.
That's when I learned about pseudoephedrine being removed from Dayquil/Nyquil and dozens of other products.
When the hell did all this happen?!? I went down and got something with pseudophedrine in it anyway---because surprise, surprise, that's the only thing that works on me to unclog my sinuses when I'm this sick---but I'm annoyed as all fuck that I didn't know about this sooner. Personally, I think it's ridiculous, but after having lived in the UK where over-the-counter medication is much more strictly monitored than it is in this country, I'm not annoyed by the added procedures. It's nothing more than I had to do in the UK; I just think it's ridiculous that it has to happen at all.
So, here's hoping that the next few days aren't as miserable as the last few. At least I know why the others weren't working now. I guess I'll be throwing out those bottles of Nyquil and Dayquil. They're completely useless to me now. /rant
