So, the new plan is this:
May 6: We all fly to the UK. We stay in the corporate apartment in Colchester (thus avoiding the need to everyone crash at my in-laws). We hadn't considered that long-term because of its size and the fact that Craig had thought they were going to use it for the Indians who are coming for the training, but we found out last night that they're not. If we don't do that, the kids will stay with the grandparents while we go to a hotel.
May 31: I fly to Detroit, the kids go to stay with Nanny and Grandad. Craig continues working.
June 6/7: I fly back to the UK.
June 10: Craig, the kids, and I all fly back to California.
June 12: Craig flies back to the UK.
July 5/6: Craig returns to the US.
I wasn't happy about the quick turnaround for Craig, but he's OK with it. He says it's actually better that way because a) it's over the weekend and he'll only lose a day of work, and b) he's not here long enough for his body clock to change over. We got the company to nail down the July date, and he's going to be working from home until the 19th (when I'm back from Toronto), so that should help his stress levels some.
The kids will see this as a vacation instead of an upheaval this way, and we still get to take advantage of having the house over summer months. Plus, they'll have one of us around full-time so it won't be as stressful for them. Yes, I won't see Craig for a month, but he's already making the noise about taking a month off toward the end of the year in order to compensate for all this. That, and the fact that the company owes him so much comp time they're not even letting him use vacation days any more. :P
Confused yet? :)
Now, I'm off to do more packing. Craig has meetings this morning until 10 that he couldn't get out of, so I'm loading the van and doing stuff around the house here until he's done and we can make our first trip. The kids are at nursery for the day, so hopefully we'll get a lot done. :)
