March 6 through March 13
Post to your LJ each day at least one of your favorite fanfic authors and why you love them, their work, and why they need more appreciation.
Do you have any idea how much fic I read? Considering I read everything that gets nominated at LLGA, I've read a *lot* of authors. So there is no way I'm not doing this.
So, for my first entry, I picked sadbhyl. I was introduced to her work a little over a year ago when someone nominated "More Than Strangers" at LLGA. I printed up the story to read while I was at my in-laws at Christmastime, and ended up getting very cranky with people when they kept trying to interrupt me while I was reading. I ended up hiding out in the middle of Christmas Day, just so that I could finish what there was. At that point, it was still a WIP, and it became one of those few stories I jumped on updates for.
I went on to read more, and loved it all. And she's the only author I've ever read that made me like an Ethan story, so bonus points for her there. Her characterizations are spot-on, she's funny as hell (c'mon, female!Spike wearing tees with logos because everybody kept staring at his breasts?), and her smut is some of the hottest I've ever read. Did I mention regular updates? Her current WIP, "And a Star to Steer Her By," is my current obsession; it makes Tuesdays my favorite day of the week.
While Sadbhyl still loves her Spuffy, she's also completely embroiled in her very adult series, the Menageverse, where she and Mydeira are rewriting each season of Buffy with Giles, Joyce, and Ethan all involved. Some fascinating stuff there, and hot to boot. If you haven't given it a shot, I highly recommend you do.
Her site is here. If you haven't read her stuff before, I suggest you run over there and start. If you have, go over there anyway. I'll lay odds there's stories there you never read before. I thought I'd read everything she'd written only to get surprised as hell when a story showed up nominated at LLGA that I'd never even heard of (sneaky sadbhyl, getting it past me!). The woman is prolific with a capital Pro. The real deal, folks. Go love her as much as I do. :)
