Rectober Post #11 - Hunger Games

Title:How Strange, Innocence
Author: ellembee
Rating: Mature
Word Count: 13829
Warnings: Graphic violence, rape/non-con
Summary: It is easy to convince President Snow when her feelings for Peeta are real. It’s the consequences of loving him that are so hard.

Why I loved it: This is an alternate universe, canon-set story that stems from the premise that Katniss was able to convince Snow she loved Peeta (rather than failing like in the books). It's dark and uncompromising, and all too possible considering the changes to canon. The ending begs for more, but it's so intense and well-written I'm actually okay with that.

Crimson Peak

I just got home from seeing Crimson Peak with Alicia and her BFF. Quick non-spoilery reaction: not exactly what I expected plotwise (though unsurprising if I think about it), but pretty good in spite of it; the real star is the visual imagery.
