Rectober Post #1 - Buffy/Mad Men crossover

Time has not been kind to me, but I think I can finally start getting on the ball to post again. I've decided I'm going to do my Rectober posts in the morning, then regular posts in the evening. I'll just put one a day since I'm doing multiple fandoms and who knows what I'll find?

I've missed reading fanfic. I might just continue this on after the month is over.

My criteria for my recs? That it's recent and complete. I've been scanning over the new stories posted daily for preferred fandoms, but this was the first I marked to rec before I opted to focus on brand new or newly completed stories. It's from August. I couldn't resist.

Title:Dial V for Vampire
Author/Artist: executrix
Characters: Rupert Giles, Joan Holloway, Edmund Giles, Betty Draper, Bert Cooper
Rating: PG
Word Count: 1346
Warnings: Major Character Death
Summary: Giles has to train an unusual new Slayer. For one thing, she's an American.

Why I loved it: First off, it's Buffy and Mad Men. I mean, come on, how could I resist? Secondly, any time we get backstory on characters, like this view of Giles from his childhood (even if it's only a minor component of the fic), is wonderful. I loved how off-beat it was, and it made me chuckle more than once.

At the movies

Let's get back into the swing of things by talking about the two new movies I saw this week, shall we?

On Tuesday, the family and I went and saw "The Martian." Collapse )

Then today, Alicia and I went to a matinee of "Hotel Transylvania 2." Collapse )
