eurydice james: pepperlandgirl4

(no subject)

I haven't been around on LJ much lately. I'm reading your entries, and commenting when I can, but real life has been keeping far too busy to do much more than that. I spent most of last week getting caught up on being away and then the weekend preparing for pepperlandgirl4's arrival on Monday. She's here until the 17th, primarily because we promised Juno, the print publisher who is putting "Chasing Silver" out in mass paperback this fall, the next book in the series by the end of the month. We've had it generally outlined for nearly a year, but this is the first chance we've really had to write it. We had the first chapter and half the second before Pepper arrived, and Tuesday was a bust because I had so much real life stuff to do.

So we started in earnest yesterday. And we're up to 21.5k. In 2 days, we've written about 16.5k. We probably won't finish the first draft before she leaves in a week, but we're going to come pretty damn close. Today was a 9k day. We just need to keep that pace up.

In other news...there really isn't any other news. Everything else in my life is on hold until I meet this deadline. This print urban fantasy series is too big an opportunity for us to mess up, so we're doing everything in our power to make sure it comes off without a hitch. Unfortunately, that includes fic. The only fandom stuff I can allow myself right now is the LLGA and WFA reading that has to happen this month so that I can get the winners announced on time. And even that is proving hard, though I've read a handful of stories - and new to me authors - that have rocked my socks.

So hope all is well with the world out there. I'm thinking of you, honest. And I miss you all.
