I'm killing time because it's 2:40 am and I'm curled up on the couch struggling to stay awake. Alex has been unwell for the past day or so. What started out as a barking cough developed into an on-and-off fever which is currently on. To top it all off, I started feeling wonky mid-afternoon as well So the two of us are awake and trying not to be too miserable. Blech.
Ack. I'm too bleary-eyed to focus on the laptop. Be well, people, and have a good weekend if I don't get on again in the next few days.
So I was up from 1:30am until just before 4 with Alex, both of us feeling awful. That's not that big a deal, actually, because when he's running a fever and is restless, I can't sleep anyway. But about 3:30, he finally fell asleep and his breathing evened out so I was able to go back to bed.
Nobody woke me up because Craig is considerate enough to keep the kids away when I sleep in the morning. Alicia and I are notoriously the later sleepers anyway, so again, not a big deal.
Until Craig comes in at 8:10 to shake me awake. Because Alicia has to be in school in 10 minutes, and he's been sitting out in the living room since 7 watching the kids play without giving any thought as to time. So I have to run around like a madwoman getting her dressed, looking for her school stuff, and writing out the check/permission slip for the field trip next week while Craig gets dressed. Oi.
I'm probably up for the morning because I can't go to back to sleep right away. I did manage to get about 5 1/2 hours of sleep total, so I've had worse. Of course, I usually need 7-8 not to be monster bitch from hell...
Well, Craig made up for his forgetfulness this morning by running out and getting me a gingerbread latte from Starbucks.
And then came home to tell me that instead of being gone for 3 weeks in mid-Jan/early Feb, he's now going to be gone for 4 because he has to go to North Carolina for the week prior to leaving for India.
On the plus side, I'll have lots of time to get writing done.
