Mothers, be very careful what you say to your children. They will take it and twist it around in their own unique fashion, and you will find yourself blushing in embarrassment when they repeat it in front of strangers.

Case in point:

I use pet names with the kids all the time. I don't know why, I just do. Alicia has always been sweetie and the like, but with Alex, I started at rather a young age cooing, "Who's my little man?" Because you do that with babies, right? That gets mutated quite a bit, for example, Mr. Man gets used quite a bit in public I realized. Anyway, It became a nightly ritual thing. Tuck into bed, lean over for a kiss, and say, "Who's my little man?"

Well, Alex has transmuted it. Now that his speech is accelerating, he's started announcing to anyone who will hear, "I'm the man!"

*blushes*

Lesson: Beware of what you create.
