And thank god the inlaws leave in 2 days. Craig and I went out to dinner tonight on our own since it's the last chance we really have before we lose our babysitters on Tuesday, and he commented that he didn't understand what the big deal with the pear was yesterday. Then, we got home and she was telling me about what the kids had for dinner, and would you believe it, but she turned to Craig and said that he had to talk some sense into "his wife" to get me to peel Alex's pears. She's convinced he's going to go off fruit entirely unless I cater to how he wants to eat it, and refuses to listen to me when I say that he needs to get used to being around people who aren't going to peel his fruit for him. They don't do it at nursery, they won't do it at school, and if he gets to the point where he'll only eat it if it's peeled, he's not going to eat it anyway. Unfortunately, my FIL is on her side about it; they both think I'm being lazy in not peeling the fruit. Arg.
It's spoiled what was actually a really nice day. We went out to the mall so that they could do their last bit of shopping before they left and found some wonderful buys. I was all prepared to spend a nice evening with them---I even did all my shopping with only the MIL as the guys took the kids off on their own---but now I just want to be antisocial and ignore them. I'm afraid I'll start yelling, and I'd much rather just stay away.
