I'm feeling like mean mom. Alex didn't want any of the pancakes I made (at MIL's request) so I gave him a piece of strudel instead as that's all he would say yes to. However, when he asked for more, I said no, because I don't want him thinking that he can just have that kind of thing all the time. I finally got him to agree to a pear instead, but would only eat it if I peeled it. I refused. The skin is so soft on the pear as to be nonexistent; if it was tough, I'd have no problem. So, I cut it up into slices so that he could just eat out the flesh. I just didn't want him to get into the habit of expecting me to cater to his whims so easily.
So, he went to the MIL and asked her to peel it. And though she'd stood there and watched me tell him no repeatedly, she went and did it.
Sigh.
I have so much to undo when they leave. Tuesday. 4 more days. I'm feeling inconsiderate about wanting them gone, but it's time to get my house and order back.
