BtVS/AtS awards pimping

In case it wasn't obvious already, I'm a strong supporter for fanfic awards. It's not that they're necessarily prestigious or anything, and yes, they can be awfully inbred, but generally speaking, I think they're an excellent way to give something back to authors who work so hard to provide stories we love. Winning is great, getting an e-mail saying you were nominated can be even more exciting. That means, one of your readers cares enough about your work to take a couple minutes to do so, and very often, that means tons more than feedback. And if you consider yourself normally a lurker, it's an excellent way to honor your favorite writers without having to step forward (if you're too shy to say anything directly to them).

So, what I've decided to do is make a list of the award sites that I'm aware of. I don't know a lot about some of the sites, but I've nominated at most of them. The vast majority of these are Spuffy, mainly because that's what I primarily read.

SPUFFY

1. Vampire Kisses Awards: Run by vampkiss. She's been doing this since March 2003, and she's wonderful in sticking with her deadlines. Currently accepting nominations for Round 9.

2. Lovebite Awards: Run by xheartrockx. This is a reader-voted award, with limitations on how many fics can be nominated in a category. This helps tremendously in making the reading and choices unwieldy for readers. Currently voting for Round 4, so go vote!

3. Lost in Spike Awards: Run by jerzeyanjel and foxy_lil_freak. Has a panel of judges who pick winners. Currently judging for Round 4.

4. Spuffy Awards: Run by nikita_80 and ghostgirl13. The original "People's Choice" awards for Spuffy readers. Currently voting for Round 6, so go vote!

5. The Wicked Muse Awards: Judge-voted with a single category as reader's pick every round. Currently judging for Round 6.

6. Love's Last Glimpse Awards: My Spuffy awards site, added per the request of a couple people. Judge-voted. Currently judging for Round 6.

MULTI-SHIP/GENFIC

1. Shadows & Dust Awards: Huge, very reliable site with categories for just about everything and promises of more in January. Currently judging for a best of the best round.

2. Shades of Grey: Categories for just about everything, so all kinds of writers can be recognized here. Currently judging Round 13.

3. The Potential Awards: A variety of categories. Authors have to nominate themselves.

4. Spike Threw the Heart Awards: A variety of categories, including ones for sites. Authors/site owners must nominate themselves.

NON-SHIPPY FIC

1. Walk With Heroes: Started by sadbhyl to support all the genfic writers out there. This is for stories that *aren't* ship-oriented---the character-driven pieces, the ensembles, that kind of thing. Nominations for Round 3 start December 1.

OTHER

1. Bedtime Stories Awards: Specifically for short stories under 2500 words. A variety of categories. Currently judging. Reader's Choice round starts December 1.

2. The Dark Awards: For dark fic, though NC17 and slash aren't allowed.

3. The Fade to Black Awards: For very dark fic. All pairings accepted.

If anyone knows of other BtVS/AtS awards sites---other ships, genfic, whatever---let me know and I'll update this post with them. I'm going to keep this in my memories as a reference for anyone who might be interested.
