My mom had called me this morning and made me promise to get a covid test if the fever persisted, so I called the doctor. I had to set up a video appointment at 6pm because I can't just get randomly get tested; I need a doctor's authorization. We went over everything, but I really don't have any other symptoms that I didn't have before. My occasional cough and stuffy nose is allergies, I'm sure. My blood oxygen levels are 97-99 every time. I still have taste and smell, and nothing is really bothering me (other than my heart palpitations, but I've been crediting that to perimenopause because it's been going on forever). I did bring up the pelvic pain issue I've been going through the last couple months and said I was going to have it looked into next week. The doctor, who reminded me so much of Fauci that it was very reassuring, ordered the COVID test, mostly because we can't be too careful. I've got that scheduled for 5pm tomorrow. It takes three days to get the result, but if I develop any other symptoms before then, I need to call. If it's negative, we'll have to do some more digging because I wouldn't have this fever for no reason.
So...I'm not very freaked out, but that fear is there. I've been self-quarantining all day in our guest room. I asked the doctor about that, and he said honestly, he didn't think I had to. Just be extra diligent around everyone else. I'm still going to sleep in here tonight, though. And I'm going to continue wearing my mask when I leave the room. I feel like I'm protecting my family that way.
