So...I joined that community, wip_out, in order to have the deadlines to finish "A Soul to Seduce." And I re-read it again, and watching BtVS again is making me want to write, and...today's the due date. And...I wrote another chapter.

It's rough, and transitional, and man it is going to take me awhile to find the flow again. I hope the fact that next chapter is about more intimate scenes and not plot will help with that. I'm sure nobody even remembers what was going on, but I'm going to finish this story one way or another. So I'm posting this anyway because it's the only way I'll continue.

An announcement first. I'm about to enter the month from hell. This time next week, I'll be on a family vacation, 2 weeks from today, I'll be at Creation Con, and then a week and a half after that, I fly to Texas for a writer's convention. Because of all my traveling this month as well as other deadlines that I have, I can't guarantee that I'm going to be able to update every Sunday. I'm going to try. I think with all the stuff going on in Soul, that people need a primer, just to keep things tracked. It would be easier if chapters came out sooner, I think, but since that's not possible...

I think the most important thing to remember in reading Soul is that this, more than any other fic I've ever done, establishes that everybody has their own motive for doing something. The schisms of AtS S5 seemed like the perfect opportunity for me to play with this. Everyone always has their own reasons for doing something, and while often, the Scoobies and the AtS gang shared goals and motivations, that isn't the case in Soul.

I don't think I've ever done this for one of my fics before, but I know things are getting convoluted and I wanted to help if I could. I blame my love of 24 for the inspiration of all the Machiavellian maneuvers in this. If you've watched the show, you know that nobody is exactly who they seem and that anything can happen to spin the story in a new direction at any time. Ulterior motives abound.

I have a confession to make. I had planned to spend this week getting ahead on Soul, focusing all my writing energy on getting a few chapters of that done so that I could resume posting twice a week without feeling anxious about running out of stuff to post. Well, I wrote chapter 15 and got chapter 16 started and then...got obsessed with the urge to write another chapter of my original vampire 3some. And then it was Thursday, and pepperlandgirl4 asked me if we could start our new novel early (we'd planned on devoting Friday to it). So I agreed. And in the past 48 hours, we've written 19k on it. It's just pouring out of us. We figured out last night that if it was possible to continue writing at the same rate - getting rid of her school responsibilities and some of my real life ones - we'd have the whole book done in less than 2 weeks.

But what that means is that I've only written a single additional chapter of Soul this week. Which puts me in the same boat I was in last week about being afraid to post on Wednesday. So I'm going to say that until I have 4 chapters in reserve (right now I only have 2), I'm sticking with a Sunday-only posting schedule. Hopefully that won't be long. My editing is done on my new book with Liquid Silver, and I can't write with Pepper M-Th anyway. And hopefully my vampire 3some won't lure me away, although I got the first 3some smut scene done and out of the way so that might be abated somewhat.

But look! A chapter today. :) There's Wes/Faith, Spike/Buffy, and oh yeah, some exposition to shed a little bit of light on things...

I've got a new chapter today. But first, an announcement.

Our primary Christmas gift to ourselves was a trip to Vegas. We're going to be there for 8 days, just us, no kids. Craig has indulged his own fanboy tendencies and we have tickets to go see Toni Braxton (the first thing out of his mouth when he called to tell me all excited that she was performing in Vegas while we were there was, "She's almost naked for most of it!"), and we're going to go see Penn & Teller as well (my choice, I adore Penn Jillette). There might be a third show, but we can't decide what it's going to be. One of the cirques, most likely. I get to see the wonderful _sharvie_ and her husband, too. All in all, wonderful fun.

HOWEVER, we leave this week. On Wednesday. And we fly back the following Wednesday. We *are* taking laptops, but in order to save myself a little bit of stress on traveling days, I won't be updating either of those Wednesdays. That means there will be an update today, but I'll be going to once a week updates for the next 2 weeks. So today, next Sunday, and the Sunday after that, and then I'll be going back to my regular schedule.

On the plus side, I don't think the cliffhanger on this particular chapter is that bad to have to wait a week, lol.
