I started A Symphony of Echoes because I couldn't leave William, and Buffy, and Spike. I never envisioned it would take me over a year to complete, and as
_jealousy_ reminded me, it's been nearly two years since I first started posting Legions of True Hearts. That boggles my mind. I never imagined it consuming so much, but there you go. :)
In the beginning, it was just
psubrat and I. In fact, she was with me in London at Halloween '04 when I got the idea for the next story after Echoes. I was chastised horribly for plotting that far ahead, but because of her and our brainstorming sessions, I was able to hammer out the story for Echoes first. She was the first person to suggest Wood's inclusion, which exploded into everything with Spenser and Spike at the climax. So my first thank you goes to her.
My second goes to
sadbhyl. Unlike Legions, which I pretty much refused to have help with, Echoes had
sadbhyl to help keep it in line from the beginning. She's the one who kept me going, betaing each chapter as quickly as I could write them. And she was the one who kept asking, "How many chapters are in this thing?" lol So, thank you, sweet. You know how much I value your opinion and friendship. Thank you, thank you.
( Cut because of story spoilers )
People are asking about my writing plans. First of all, let's get this out there. I'm *not* stopping writing fanfic/Spuffy. I'm signed up for the next round of
seasonal_spuffy for starters. What my date ends up being for that will determine what starts getting posted next. The story I really want to do for it requires time to complete, so if I get a late enough date, I'm going to write that. That means that I won't be starting anything else new Spuffywise until it's done. If I don't get a late enough date, I'll figure something else out for that, and start another longer story. I already know which one it will be. :)
Meantime, I'm finishing up Diamond Studded Flunkies. After that, there won't be any more Worldverse stories for a few months at the least. I have other stuff to concentrate on. I also have my
winter_of_wes day coming up on the 3rd. So see? Not going anywhere.
As for a sequel to Echoes...it's not going to happen any time in the near future. There are other bunnies that need attention (which doesn't include a Frost sequel as some people have asked), and I'm going to focus on those instead. There *might* be shorter vignettes in this 'verse, but I'm not sure. It's going to depend on time.
If anyone has specific questions they might want to ask, or something they want to see, feel free to say so. I'll answer as best I can. So for now, just remember I love you all. Thank you for making this such a pleasure for me. :)

DISCLAIMER: The characters are Joss’, of course, and the chapter title comes from Shakespeare’s “Sonnet XXXIII.”
PREVIOUSLY ON BUFFY: Buffy and Spike’s son was born prematurely, but is safely ensconced in the hospital’s NICU, while Willow and Giles got rid of Esme once and for all…
AUTHOR'S NOTES: Forgive me, I've got a bit of schmoop in this last chapter. I think it's about time for it. :) Also, I have thank yous, but I'm going to be posting those tomorrow. I'd rather everyone just enjoy the end of the story today. This is also posted at my site.

For whatever reason, I'm incredibly nervous about the rest of this story, especially the two chapters that I'm posting today. Both new chapters are up at my site, as well. There's only 1 more chapter left after this, too.

PREVIOUSLY ON BUFFY: Willow teleported an awake Spike back to the Summers’ house where the rest of the gang was about to head out to storm the Initiative in hopes of retrieving Buffy. Willow then teleported herself, Spike, and Havi directly to the Initiative in an attempt to find out and help with what was going on with the baby. After getting in to see Buffy, Willow learned that Esme’s spell had destroyed the baby’s soul, and that the baby was dying. Spike was unwilling to just let that happen and told Willow to use his instead…

PREVIOUSLY ON BUFFY: Robin crashed the Summers house only to alert them to the added problem of Esme; Esme got to Buffy, only to realize that she couldn’t wake her up, forcing her to get rid of the block; in the dream, Buffy felt the effects of Esme’s spell and Willow joined the Guardians in order to get the power boost she needed to wake Spike up, just to discover that he thinks the baby is dead…
WARNING: There is sensitive subject matter regarding an unborn child within this chapter. I will freely admit that I cried when writing out Spike's early reactions in this. As was indicated in the chapter previous, Esme has cast a very bad spell on the baby and that just doesn't go away. It has consequences. Those consequences are clarified in this chapter and could be disturbing to some. However, ultimately, this story is not a tragedy. I brought Willow back, didn't I? :) Still, some might choose to skip this chapter, and that's all right. The "previously" on the next chapter will explain what is necessary for the story to proceed without the emotional impact of having to read it directly. My sincerest apologies to anybody who might have read already and been very upset. This was never my intention. *hugs*

I've decided to start posting all of my stories here on LJ, so you'll find the next update of A Symphony of Echoes under the cut. For those interested in continuing to read it at my site, the link is here.

Chapter 56 of Echoes is now up. What's that about frying pans and fires?
Due to the upcoming holidays and the fact that I'm barely holding myself together healthwise to get through Christmas, there won't be an Echoes update next week. Updates on this will resume January 3...unless some miracle occurs and I'm able to return to full health and have tons of extra energy to write before then.

Chapter 55 of Echoes is now up. My update e-mails are being wonky, so if you're on my update list, my apologies. This is the second week in a row it failed so I need to talk to Craig to get it sorted out.
But the chapter is up. More setting up of players, explanation about Spike's presence at the Well, etc. Not as long as normal but then bridging/plot chapters rarely are.
Enjoy!

Because
sadbhyl is a goddess and got this back to me the very next morning after I sent it to her, I'm actually on time this week!
Chapter 53 of Echoes is now up. Buffy has a visitor, Robin has a long talk, and...stuff happens. :)
Enjoy!

Umm...
Just a warning. There's a *very* strong likelihood that the Echoes update won't happen on Tuesday. The holiday has usurped all my time, and my goal of finishing my novel before Thanksgiving went out the window. So, now that I'm a chapter and a half away from the ending of the book, I have to finish it. I have to. Which means I won't start the Echoes chapter until I'm done.
If I miss Tuesday, I'll post it as soon as I can. I promise.

For some reason, my site e-mails are bouncing back, so my update e-mail to people on my list isn't out yet. Still, the next chapter of Echoes is up. Some action, Lydia shows up at Robin's, a quiet Giles/Joyce moment (just for
sadbhyl!), and more action. You'd think we were getting closer to the end or something. :)
Enjoy!
Enjoy!
First of all, thank you to everyone for your well wishes regarding Alex. The night wasn't too bad. He was only up twice and didn't get sick either time. So far, so good today. He's been very perky considering everything, so now I just have to hope that nobody else in the family catches it now. :)
Secondly, I have a fic update. Chapter 51 of Echoes is now up. Buffy and Willow have a chat, and then we've got some strategizing, and then Maggie has a revelation. Lots of talking otherwise, lol. I hope you enjoy. :)

Chapter 48 of Echoes is now up. Some Giles and Joyce bonding, Oz and Xander on a roadtrip, and Spike and Buffy hashing things out. A lot of pain, but I hope you like it anyway.
Chapter 47 of Echoes is now up. The aftermath of Willow's death and Havi's decision. A bend has been reached in the story. This puts us into the final fourth of this saga (whew!). I hope you enjoy. :)
Chapter 46 of Echoes is now up. Not really sure how to describe this one...just one that pushes everything forward.
Thanks for reading!
Thanks for reading!
Chapter 44 of Echoes is now up. Things are starting to get a little thick around Sunnydale, not to mention tense. The next few chapters---ok, maybe most of the rest of the story---are going to be crazy hectic for the gang. Hope you enjoy!
