See, I still have a baby tooth in my mouth. I have no second teeth to any of my molars, as well as no wisdom teeth. My second premolars lacked second teeth as well, so when the first came out when I was 10, nothing came back in. Two of the other three broke at the ages of 20 and 23, meriting extractions, but that left the fourth, on the upper right side. Since there was nothing wrong with it, I left it alone. I also never had the gaps in the back filled in. There was always talk about getting braces and the gaps would give the teeth room to move comfortable. The braces never happened.
So the broken filling? Is in that last baby tooth. It's time for it to come out. A crown is not really an option because my dentist doesn't want to touch the two very healthy teeth on each side of it to create a bridge. That leaves an implant. Expensive, as well as a trip to the oral surgeon. My dentist said I'd be looking at $4k easy. Granted, we have insurance, but there's an annual cap. A lot of money and a lot of time.
Then I mentioned the braces thing again. I've been thinking about it for a while, to be honest. I have a tooth in front that came in three years after it fell out, after all the other teeth were already in. So it's behind the others, and it's a pain in the ass. Plus, it's getting worse as I get older. So I've been debating getting Invisalign. It would be comparable to getting implants as well as fixing the way they look.
So the new plan is I'm going to get the baby tooth pulled and then have a consultation with our orthodontist. I have to get a few fillings redone, too, which means a minimum of three more dentist appointments in the next few weeks. The first appointment is a week from today. She said I could wait, but I can't get the tooth pulled until I get the fillings done and I just want it all done NOW. I'm not delaying and ruining my momentum.
