Craig's aunt and I went and saw Monuments Men last night. I knew from word of mouth that it wasn't as sharp as she wanted it to be, but it was still enjoyable. The idea was interesting and performances solid, if not completely original. What's wrong is that the story suffers from trying to do too much, following pairs of the men around Europe as they split up in their hunt to recover the stolen art, which means we don't ultimately spend a lot of time with any of them. Too many funny or poignant moments are lost in its meandering, and its impact is too diluted to really stick for very long.
Still, I've seen worse. Which is really damning praise, isn't it, lol?
As a side note, George Clooney is aging into Cary Grant. It's kind of creepy.
