So, we watched V tonight...

I'm still unsure. Sunday, Craig did a marathon of watching the original two miniseries, and at some point, we're going to watch the original show. I wasn't hugely interested in watching the remake, but Craig asked so I recorded it.

I like the idea that they've been on the planet for years as a sleeper cell, but the pace seemed...sluggish? I dunno. I kept waiting for more, and it just didn't come. I saw the twist with Alan Tudyk coming a mile off, and I've never cared for Scott Wolf. Other than that...I liked...Ryan? Is that his name? The one who turned out to be a visitor helping them. And I always like Elizabeth Mitchell, so it helps she's in the lead.

The rest of it...eh. We'll see. I'm not sold yet.

I like it so far, but I really have nothing to compare it to. I never saw the original series, and didn't even know there were two miniseries. I just really decided to watch for Morena and Alan.

I actually have the original series on DVD, because it was a nostalgia buy. I'm not really a Morena fan, but knowing Alan was on it certainly helped in easing the transition.

Me neither. I watched almost the first half of it, then switched to NCSI and found that it was a continuation of last week's storyline. I stuck with it until the end, then switched back in time to catch the very end of V and see where it looks like it's going to go. I was neither impressed, nor unimpressed. Just sort of "meh".

Yeah, we'll see how it goes. It could go either way at this point.

I loved all parts of the original when I was a kid, so part of me was very unhappy to hear they were redoing it. But I was rather intrigued by this so we'll have to see where it goes.

The original is definitely one of those nostalgia things for me. I even own the series. I had such a crush on Kyle, lol.

Did you see the twist with Alan Tudyk because the writing was that transparent of becuase he always plays the bad guy? As soon as he appeared I suspected that he was one of the aliens.

I don't actually associate Alan Tudyk with bad guys. The thing I've seen him the most in is A Knight's Tale, because it's one of Craig's favorite movies and that gets watched way too often in my house. After that, I think of him as Wash (but only because of the Whedon connection, I didn't really enjoy Firefly and have only seen the series the one time). I really think it was the writing. There was just nobody else it could be.

I am confusing Tudyk with Reed Diamond, who played the corrupt detective on Homicide. I liked Tudyk in Firefly. So it must have been the writing.

I loved the original and found this remake merely okay so far. I do like Elizabeth Mitchell and Morena Bacarin. Did the original leader Diana blink her eyes in that reptilian fashion the way Anna does? I can't remember, but I like it.

No, she didn't. I do think that's a nice touch on Morena's part.

I have great affection for and childhood memories of ther original. As for the reboot... we'll see. It actually felt rather rushed and under character developed to me. But, it's usually the follow up eps that make the decision for me. It could go either way.

Yeah, I agree. Either way. I'll continue watching at this point, if only to find out.

I enjoyed it. And I watched the miniseries over the weekend as well, at least some of it cuz it's freaking long!

I liked "Ryan" as well and Anna is just creepy to me.

Craig had never seen the original because it didn't get aired in the UK, so because he wanted to watch the remake, he kind of insisted even though I had to remind him how long ago it was done. I'd forgotten about the second miniseries, to be honest. For some reason, it had all compressed into one in my head.

Ah, I remember watching V as a kid. All the novelty of the idea was so cool. Like all that stuff the Enquirer printed was coming true! *g* The pulling off of the skin. The babies. Ahhh...good times! I'm sure if I watched it now I'd fall off my chair laughing, but back then it was cool! Everyone talked about V the next morning at school.

This was ok. Morena was respectably creepy. I agree about the twist with Alan's character. As soon as they hinted about a mole, I knew it was him. It was just too obvious. Partly because of Alan's twitchy looking character, and partly because they really hadn't even introduced another co-worker that you *could* suspect. If there's only two people, and it isn't one, then it must be the other.

Anyway, it did drag. Like they are planning on setting up the monstrously long and complicated arc. But we didn't really get any payoff to keep us interested.

I did like the old priest/new priest paradox. Although, I think in reality it would be switched. The older priest might be more inclined to accept papal decree, but he'd be much more skeptical. Whereas the new priest would be more in touch with the new generation and be more accepting of the alien culture. But that's just my opinion. Maybe they're setting up the old priest as a V. Or perhaps the Pope. Hard to say at this point *what* the heck they are planning on doing.
