Update on me

I should probably post an update about what's been going on with me...

1. I'm not surprised at all that Kris won, though I'm still pissed off that I got spoiled for it ahead of time. I'm actually pleased for the guy, because he certainly needs it more than Adam does. It's what the spirit of the competition is about, and frankly, since it was announced they were both getting record contracts nearly 24 hours before the results even came out, the rest of it doesn't really matter to me. Though how great was it to hear Adam singing Queen? The new Freddie Mercury. I certainly have no problems with that.

2. It's been a week of medical stuff. Craig had an outpatient procedure done on Tuesday that thankfully showed he's healthy, so that's a plus. On the not so plus side...my mom hasn't been well and found out today she has hepatitis B (sometimes being a nurse sucks). She has to undergo more tests and an ultrasound to determine if it's acute or chronic. Please keep your fingers crossed for her. She's really not taking it well, so far.

3. Speaking of medical stuff, Alex's cough is back. :(

4. We've gone ahead and purchased the kids' flights for the UK. They'll be gone for 5 weeks. I also might be taking an interim trip with them out to visit my mom before that.

5. My 10th wedding anniversary is next week. Craig and I don't have real plans, because, guess what, we're hosting the Girl Scouts end of the year sleepover at our house the same night, lol. We've decided to do something after the kids leave for the UK to celebrate both our anniversary and my birthday in July. Right now, we're going back and forth between NYC and Hawaii. I think I'd have more fun in NYC, but we've never been to Hawaii.

6. The new house is underway. Craig has thrown up a website for us to share pictures and videos of the process. It's easier than wasting bandwidth to show family, so I'm sharing the site with you, in case anyone's interested. :) The interior pictures of the model home are just for reference. For instance, one picture of the kitchen has the layout, while the other has the cabinets/countertops I picked out. Ditto for the pictures on the floors. We wanted reference of the carpet and tile we picked out (the lighter ones), rather than just the dark tile in the model home.

I am! I keep drooling over the kitchen. All that space...

I just have to figure out how to last until it's done in August now! :)

Girls Scout sleepover on your anniversary?! The universe is just being cruel, now. ;) I went to Hawaii a few years ago and I honestly just wasn't particularly thrilled with it. So much of it is so commercial now that it's not much different from LA. About the only things that were really worth seeing were Pearl Harbor and the volcanoes. But we only did Oahu, Maui, and Hawaii proper, none of the smaller islands so those might be a bit nicer. Personally, if you want to go to a tropical paradise, I'd recommend the Riviera Maya; if you stay within 50 miles of Cancun you can have the tropical paradise and the option of a large metropolitan area without the city actually encroaching on you. Plus it's cheaper and the resorts are all-inclusive, which totally rocks.

The new house looks like it's going to be amazing! I bet you can't wait till it's ready. :)

I really, really can't. Every day, something happens, and I think, "In the new house, I'll have someplace to put that, lol."

Craig's the one leaning more toward Hawaii, to be honest. I don't do well in sunshine because of burning so easily, and I'd like to lose a little bit more weight before venturing out in public in a swimsuit, lol. But we've done NYC before, numerous times, and it feels like we should try something new. We just haven't been able to figure out what, since we don't want to be gone for more than a week.

Wow, that's going to be a beautiful house. I'm all jealous and stuff. I have one of those "I'm a poor, starving artist" apartments complete with a roommate. *frown*

Oh, well, I can live vicariously through this one. ;) Kinda like in "One Hour Photo", right?

^.^

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, PICK HAWAII. Seriously. The weather in NYC during July is possibly the most disgusting thing ever. There's nothing but relentless heat and humidity, lasting well after sunset. And woe betide the unwary tourist who takes the subway at high noon, when the platforms heat up to about 110 degrees. Plus, everything smells.

In conclusion, HAWAII HAWAII HAWAII. There are beaches. Gorgeous beaches free of medical waste! Beautiful clear water that is actually capable of sustaining sea life!

I know Hawaii is going to be prettier and nicer weatherwise, but I can't be out for very long in the sun without being in agony. That's why Hawaii hasn't been an automatic choice already. My argument is if we go, we should go when the kids would go because then he'd be able to do more stuff instead of being stuck inside with me a good part of the time. On the other hand, part of me thinks being in agony would be worth how pretty it is. Hence, being so torn, lol.

It's fun watching your house being built, isn't it?
Sorry to hear about your mom. I hope they find out it's treatable and/or manageable.

Thank you. It really hit us this week.

I like seeing how fast it's going up, but I want to move now, lol. It's like a summer long tease.

That sucks that you were spoiled. But wasn't Adam singing with Queen great? And KISS! Those boots!

I wish I could see the pictures of your house, but all I see is 4 really tiny pictures of the outside. Weird.

Hope your mom gets good news, and that Alex feels better soon.

The pictures are clickable and take you to the individual pages where are more thumbnails you can click to see bigger. If that doesn't work, can you tell me what browser you're using? Craig's been in "it will work for everybody, damn it" mode ever since he started it.

Adam was gorgeous for the finale. I loved what they did with his make-up for KISS with the jeweled eyeliner. And he was so in his element with them. It just made me want to see him in concert even more.

When I click on the pictures, it goes to a blank page. I use Firefox, but I just tried it in IE and it didn't work for me either, so maybe it's something to do with my computer. I'll try it on the PC later and see if that makes a difference (I'm on the laptop now).

Huh. Craig was fiddling with it again apparently, because now I'm seeing what you are. I should probably edit my post. Damn it.

Oh! Kimrae just sent me this link: http://www.popeater.com/television/article/pre-glam-lambert-before-adam-rocked-idol/492625 Adam as a blond. Did you see it?

Craig had converted the vids to flash apparently, because it was broken on my computer, too, this morning. He's fixed something so I can see it now. If you still can't see it, can you let me know, please? :)

Yay! I'll tell Craig it's working now. Thank you!

I'm going to be living in the back of that house, in the kitchen and family area, I just know it. I also told Craig we're never allowed to move again, lol.

Oh, wow! That house is going to be gorgeous!

And I would agree with you re: AI. Either one could have won, and I would have been happy. It was a great finale this year.

I told Craig I am not moving again for a very, very long time, lol. I want my house now. :)

I'm actually really happy for Kris. He was so so solid this year, and such a nice guy. This is exactly what kind of thing he needed to get his career going. And we'll see Adam again anyway.

I've been to Kauai and Oahu, and loved it. Especially Kauai - so green and gorgeous.

Happy 10th!! I had my 10th with my boyfriend at the end of Dec.

Off to look at house pics.

It's how pretty it is and how moderate the temperature is that keeps me interested. All that sunshine usually terrifies me, lol.

It's hard to believe we've been married for 10 years sometimes. Where did it go?!?

Kauai has masses of scenery, and I didn't feel overheated there, and that happens easily to me. It was in the 80s during the day. My grandmother was along, too, and she was extremely sun sensitive....she just played it smart and was fine. It was actually her 2nd time over the islands.

# Winter - typical daytime temperatures 76 to 80 F (24-26 C), nighttime 60 to 64 F (15-18 C).
# Summer - typical daytime temperatures 84 to 87 F (29-31 C), nighttime 70 to 72 F (21-22 C).

Whoa!!! I mean, it's one thing to know what his parents look like and see the pictures from his youth to have an idea towards more natural coloring. It's another to actually see it. I like the black better, though. I think it makes his eyes prettier.

THank you so much for sharing!
